Invisible Orthodontics
We call invisible orthodontics or orthodontics without braces the procedure of restoration of orthodontic abnormalities with the use of thin transparent orthodontic aligners. These aligners are successively placed in the mouth and progressively move the teeth towards the desired position. They are manufactured using high technology and computer software.
It is an alternative and more aesthetically acceptable solution for those people -adults, teenagers and children- who want to have an orthodontic treatment, but are discouraged by the classic “braces”.

How does it work?
At your first visit, after the clinical examination, photos, x-rays and oral impressions of your mouth are taken. Then, after a discussion with our orthodontists, you will make a decision whether you want to start immediately with the delivery of the first aligners at your next appointment. Otherwise, there is the option to see, at your next appointment, a digital simulation of your smile with the new position and occlusion of your teeth, exactly as they will be after the orthodontic treatment is completed. When you decide to start, the first aligners are made, exclusively for your mouth and your case, with the help of computers & high technology. These aligners are made in specialized dental laboratories, certified by the companies that support this software, such as Invisalign and Clear Aligner.
At the beginning of the treatment, you receive your first set of aligners, which you apply to your mouth and change in succession every week or so, always according to the instructions of your orthodontist. Each set you apply moves your teeth slightly towards the desired result and so on, until you reach the smile you desire!
Advantages
- The aligners are made of transparent hypoallergenic acrylic and they “slide” on the surface of the teeth. As a result, they are not visible to others, while at the same time they are highly comfortable for you. So, during the treatment, you have no problems with your work or your social life.
- They can be removed quickly and easily when there is an important personal, professional or social meeting.
- They are not a problem for oral hygiene, as we can remove them during the day after meals, we can brush and clean them with mouthwashes, just as we clean our mouth to keep our breath pleasant and fresh.
- They do not injure the lips and the gums.
- The adaptation period lasts 2-3 days, during which you will feel a slight pressure on the moving teeth as well as a minimal difference in speech, especially in dental and sibilant consonants. Any discomfort disappears after 3 days.
Drawbacks
- Clear aligners are the only orthodontic technique that allows the patient to remove from the mouth the ” tool ” with which forces are exerted and, consequently, the teeth are moved. This could be a disadvantage, since in cases where they are not worn 22 hours/day, they will not have the desired effect.
- Transparent aligners are a personalized technique, as all aligners are made exclusively for your mouth. Sometimes, this treatment comes at an increased cost, as there is an added laboratory cost to the fee for making the aligners that you change each week. However, as the technology of aligners develops, the cost of manufacturing them decreases and in many cases reaches the cost of orthodontic treatment with traditional braces.
